rap sounds great but heavy rock sounds crap???

Old metallica was recorded well. But really old Metallica was not. Their oldest stuff was recorded quite badly. It still sounds like pure gold to me though, not like their new crap. IMO Metallica might as well have died after they made and justice for all. Their 'style' certainly died. Back then everyone wanted to sound like Metallica, now instead Metallica sounds like everybody else. bleh

I agree, the song One is to me the best for a ported box to this day I can't stop listening to it, lol. Polo...

One was their break-out single that really made them popular on the radio.

Did you know they lived in an abandoned building when they, as a group, were first starting out? Their music was inspired by turmoil, and it showed. Their old music had so much more soul in it, the new stuff is just a melody and a few lyrics played over and over, just like all the other top 40 crap. They were truely inspirational in the early years, I was a huge fan. Now... I couldn't even tell you their last released albumn's name. Sad.

update:

been playing with the settings...

turned the subs LP to 75hz, turned the gain up a bit...

turned the rest of the cars speakers to HP 80hz ( this a good idea? )

also discovered a key to the crap sound, i was controlling the bass via the deck's bass option, well I read the manual ( again ) and theres an option for just the sub, turned the bass down, and turned the sub up, sounds alot better, still more to tweak...
