Ranger X-cab system

Ok so now that ive got all my stuff hooked up all my friends at school are wantin to get systems now. One of them was askin me today what I reccomend for subs and an amp. He has an extended cab ranger. His budget is 1500 for amp/subs/wiring. Strictly SPL. He doesnt have room for anything bigger than 12's and wants to stay with a single amp. I told him maybe L7's or a single XXX ported. So my question is what sub/amp combo do you guys reccomend??? Thanks
