I'm too **** tired to write anything right now, so I will just post some pics. This biotch is heavy though:CRY:

1 block, 11 pistons, many puchrods, 3 heads (2 matching), one intake (cracked on the bottom //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif) and many other pieces for $500. Block looks good, crank rings like a bell when struck with a hammer, pistons look OK, but everything is dirty as hell right now. We're dropping it off for hot bath tomorrow. Only problem in the cylinders is a small streak from a ring I would assume, very minute, easily fixable with the amount of wall we have left between the cylinders, I think.

Oh yea, three rocker assemblies, all the valves/springs and one valve cover //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Please tell me that's going in the civic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Looks nice, always interesting picking up someone else's basket case! Good luck, looks like a good project.

No, LOL. A '64 Falcon 2dr Post

ummm, what do u plan on doing with that relic?
Relic of a motor, or car?

Motor will be stuffed with forged internals, punched 30 or 60 over, depending on what the cylinders need. An 8-71 if we build it right, a 6-71 if we decide to skimp. The bottle has crossed our minds but we are not making any plans for it. We will strive for 93octane when underdriven and possibly 113 octane at the track when overdriven.

The car will be certified for 9.2s or slower I believe. I cannot remember the exact times for the cage we are going with. Either a full tube-frame chassis or a custom frame built in home. A modified mustang front end, four-link and coilovers in the rear. We are going to try our hardest to keep it street legal, but in Va, you cannot have anything aft of the dashboard that extends more than 2" above the plane of the dash. (Can't have things poking out of the engine bay, ie. BLOWER). Maybe we can find a tech and get a favor done, or register it as an antique and have that waved. We will see.

We hope to have a 10s car by the time the project is over. Along with a fun driver on the street.

392s are cool,a bit old school and small for any competitionsorta like flat heads fords....
Small? How will a 400+ CI motor be small when there are 350's and 302's running faster than we plan to?

And it's only oldschool if you build it that way:naughty: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Got around to posting pics of the cleaned block. We need to paint the exterior and continue to keep the other parts soaked in oil/wd40 to prevent rustola coming back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The valley is a littel dirty, but I am still pleased. $40 and ~50 years of grime off is fine with me. The cylinders need to be honed to get the rest of the crap that the blast did not. We will save that for a later date. No reason to hone it only if they will be bored later on, ya know?

Youll hit 9's w/ that falcon...fuking things weigh as much as my left nut.

But WHY an 8-71, other than the "omg look at that car" look. You'll save soooo much money/time going w/ the bottle, not trying to have a boner for it, but speaking practically.

Unless you got the change for it, then go w/ it...OR GO TURBO

406+76mm turbo=death of the tires

If you turbo it, it will be faster. Garunteed. Turbo>SC.

OOOOORRRRRRRRRRRR go with a PSI blower. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I think excelerator would agree, PSI>Weiand.

I would like to go with a large trubo, or two smaller ones, but this is partly a drag car, as well as partly my dads dream build from when he was younger. The blower is not so much to get the race part done, as to satisfy my dad's inner child that had a desire for that big, blown motor. Got to remember, in the 80's, blowers were all the rage, and his Camarao would have been blown, had it not been for some asshat in a paintbooth. So, that is why the blower.

Although we may not use an 871, that may be a ltitle too much air for us, it will all depend on how we build the bottom end/heads.

871 or we kill you

871 or we kill you
Haha, we would love to, but I just don't know the physical properties of them. I have bought some literature so I will check otu the numbers and run some calculations with our proposed internals and see ho things look. While we may not be going wih a cheap motor to begin with, it would be nice to do the most with the least. Ya know?
