Random Sibilance

Gunz That Turn on Nunz
Sometimes my setup gets really harsh in the 5-8 khz range on the same song, same volume level where i have to EQ it down to -2 or -3 db. This happens every once in a while. Normally i can have the 5-8 khz range at 0 db and it wont have any sibilance issues on the same songs. This is basically one and off. At first it wasnt too much of a hassle but its starting to annoy me.

Nothing else changed, just sometimes you turn the car on and get heavy sibilance, EQ it down and it sounds clean. Other times it sounds clean with no sibilance and no need for EQ.

Anyone know what the issue could be?

So intermittent sibilance playing the same song; just different times with no other major variables changing? What's your tweeter location and orientation? What are you using as your source? Sibilance from both sides?

Unless you've got some funky reflection issues with the glass or dash I'm tempted to ask if there is a possibility the tweeter isn't secured well?
Tweeter is bolted mounted on sail panels on axis, very secure. Its not intermittent as in when i'm driving. Its more like it just happens and stays that way for the whole driving trip. When I get back to my car and start the car up it'll come back to normal and stay that way for the whole trip, and yes Tested it with the same song. It doesnt happen while driving. Source is an 80 prs with 320kbps music via usb.

That's weird...At this point and unless someone pops up with a good culprit I would start troubleshooting. Amp -> H/U -> RCA would be my order of testing. Hopefully someone chimes in though with an explanation of why it would only happen with your car on.

I'm wondering if its the head unit to be honest. Same thing happened in my corolla. No matter what amps or speakers I change along with different tweeter positions, this problem is pretty constant throughout. Only thing that has not changed is the head unit. I'll the the RCA to phone aux test now actually.

Its been awhile but I solved the problem. Turns out it was a front battery on its way to the grave (amp was directly connected to that battery). Replaced the battery with another agm. The problem never came back for this whole month so i'm guessing case closed.

Hmm, that blows. If I ever have that issue I'll add that to my trouble shoot list. I'm glad you figured that one out!
