Rainbow Speakers?

i guess ill go with the germs then lol i thought the cmx would be louder and clearer though and the cheaper btw
The germs have a very flexible crossover with various tweeter positions and I am 90% sure it can be biamped as well. I haven't any complaints and they are great for the price unless you consult some at diymobileaudio...where they try to make $11 HT tweeters sound like gold...

Im thinking about getting a pair of rainbows but people only talk about germs and slc. I was wondering about the cmx but not many people talk about them. r they bad sounding or something or people just haven't use them.

If you have not heard either the germs or the SLC I would persoanlly recomend the SLC. I have been told that the only difference between the two, besides the look, is that the germs have a bit more flexability for ajdustment and tweaking. You should be very satisfied with the SLC and if you truly hate them then you will most likely hate the sound of the germs and you wont have wasted the money on them. Get the SLC's and spend the rest on installation....deadener and such

hmmm....

Theres alot more to it than that, but in a nutshell he is somewhat correct. If stepping in blindfolded many have found the SLCs quite pleasing and without breaking the bank.

On a price note..there are several difference between the Germs and SLCs that more than justify the price. All things equal..the infamous CAL25 tweets would be enough for me.

yeah i was quite pleased with the SLCs before i got the germs, but after reading and talking to 6spd about the Cal25 tweet...i had to find out for myself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the hard dome ain't half bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. cmx is very precise and dynamic, has a nice tone to it also.

so that cal/25 tweet makes a big difference. dont the cmx has the same tweeter.
Aside of dome material difference, the Germ tweet is chambered and can play much lower than the CMX tweet . For instace the passive has 2200hz 12db

and 2600hz 12db selections. The CMX cal25alk is at 3.2khz 12db on the cmx xover.

Its certainly a better built all around set, thus costing more. However this doesnt give justice to the capabilities of the CMX- very dynamic set.
