Rainbow SLX265's Running active....

Right now I have my rainbows set to the following on my 9887 active:

Low- 63hz @ 12db

Mid-L set to 63hz, 12db

Mid-H set to 5khz 12db

High- 5khz 12db

Now it is to my understanding that "DB/slope" pretty much means that the higher the number is the less that driver will play over that specific crossover point. Obviously the higer the number the driver will play less over that crossover point.

In which point with active you have the ability to go from 0-6-12-18-24 in slope.

Set by this example:

RIght now I do not have my gains set 100% correctly...but pretty close. Im going to eventually set them with a DMM to get 90-100w per door for the mids, and probably 50w or so for each tweet.

I have found that when I turn the crossover down on the tweeter, it gets harsher.

How would you run these speakers?

SO I wanted to find out what ohm my tweeter was and I got the response:

Hello Kristopher Fraley,

thank you very much that you have bought a rainbow product.

The tweeter is 4 Ohm as well.

We strongly recommend you to use the passive crossover networks as running

speakers active needs a lot of experience in setting up a component system

by active crossovers. Most users are very disappointed by the result or blow

the speakers as they have too less basic knowledge about this. As long as

you are no professional or have fundamental basics about this and you have

no measurement equipment to measure the frequency response in your car we

strongly suggest to keep with the passive networks.

Enjoy your rainbow speakers for a long time.

Have you tried lowering the Mid-H and High to around 3.5 to 4 KHz? Try -18 dB/Oct on those and -18 or -24 dB/Oct for the Mid-L. See how it compares.

I did have the mid high around 3.5 to 4....it did sound good....I just havnt really messed with it that much. I will def mess around with the 28/24 slopes.

Man I tried sendin 90 watts to my mids using a 1khz -6 db, and 50 to the tweeter using 4khz -3 db, and I think I almost blew my right side.

Turned down the gain a bit and now its all workin. I must tell...running active is pissing me off now.
