Rainbow CS230 p3: Better than new SLC's?

I;'ve been considering a set of Rainbow 5 1/4 comps to upgrade my current system. (Infinity Reference). I can get a used pair of Rainbow CS230 P3's for $180. Apparently these are a couple years old but are considered to be a step above the SLC line. Can someone confirm that? I'm about ready to pull the trigger.

nah man, subtleties...they were Rainbows $550 set when they were new

you better snag them up! sound way better than the SLC..i had SLCs and they dont have that much kickbass. believe me...i had them deadend to hell in my doors...each door has over 65 sqft of deading...needless to say i turned them up way to often to comensate for the lake there off and ended up smoking the crossovers..150 watts to them with the gains set way low...you should be happy with them with about 80 watts.

For the money..depends on price i guess..my next step was to go up and i went the with CDT hd-62 with the satnet 560 crossover and aluminum tweet upgrade. Freaking Amazing kickbass and all around brilliant sounding! These amazed me even not in a enclosure...when i put them in my doors with deading they came to life to the Nth degree! Powered by 125 watts up to 250 watts and there is no beating them for the money! talk to djdillion...even there lower models are nice. dont eb affraid to give them some power!

Hm, i put the SLC's in my car doors with minimal deadening and a baffle and the kick bass and bass guitar sound awesome. did you tune your setup, listen to mp3s?

I have the Contours and haven't looked back since. I love them and would def recommend them.
