Rainbow component question

I'm contemplating getting the 8" X Plain shallow mount set with the Cal 25 tweet, etc. Will the extra cone area of the 8 make up for it being a shallow mount mid? i plan to cross them at 80hz with a 12db slope. i could fit almost any 6.5 mid and the mpyre set looks interesting too but i'm afraid it would hit the door panel since it has so much excursion. Any thoughts?

theres nothing to 'make up' for it being shallow, its shallow by design (neodymium magnet/motor)

I say go for it, give the door some deadning and some solid wattage and you are in business...

raammat should be here today and i plan to put 150w per side.

Sounds like a sweet setup. Nice up front midbass, and you are gonna love the Cal25- that is one sweet tweeter...

I was looking to use the xplain 8"drivers myself last year, but the distributor at the time here in the US didnt stock that line. I was pissed. Mic Wallace 2005 IASCA SQ champ used these drivers in his wife Loris Civic(her car competes as well) and stated they are nice drivers.
