OP
They all work exceptionally well off axis. The phase plug drivers are the flattest sounding bass wise with the best midrange of the 2way sets you would be looking at. 3way, it only makes sense to go with the more robust kickbass set for midbass since you'll have a dedicated midrange.2-way OR 3-way....
either would be mounted in the doors though...
Even better as its automatically great midbass/bass reinforcement, i would go with the phase plug to have all bases covered optimally if you are going 2way fronts plus sub.A new grill would be fabed...
Also, my subwoofer would be installed under the front dash... so bass up-front...

The Phase plug drivers dont come in 3way sets, so its their standard midbass or the Kickbass as options for a dedicated midbass driver. The kickbass being the more optimal door speakers as its motor adjusts to any door after break-in and settling near optimal Q (0.707). This speaker really pounds the midbass out, its not affected by the anomalies of the avg speaker on how its response is affected by the Vas. It'll kick your *** in a door as little as 15 Liters the same way it does in one as large as 115 Liters. And if I choose 3-way ?
same high-end response????The Kick version has approximately 1.5 times more midbass response than the normal SLC version.
at least a couple hundred bucks more.... but from what I hear, germs arent like the SLCs. I hear the germs are more "love or hate" speakers. Ive never heard the germs personally so dont swear by this, but I hear they are a tad bit "piercy" in the upper frequencies, like MB Quartz kinda. No i dea though, I really wanna hear them to see what the fuss is all about.how big of a jump is it from the SLC kick to the Germ?
