RAINBOW Advise... Please...

2-way OR 3-way....
either would be mounted in the doors though...
They all work exceptionally well off axis. The phase plug drivers are the flattest sounding bass wise with the best midrange of the 2way sets you would be looking at. 3way, it only makes sense to go with the more robust kickbass set for midbass since you'll have a dedicated midrange.

The biggest problem with going 2way in an oem location is the restriction of the grill and how it can restrict off axis response and affect negatively the critical midrange, not to mention resonance in the midbass region. If you have a non obtrusive grill or can fab one, its a bonus.

A new grill would be fabed...
Also, my subwoofer would be installed under the front dash... so bass up-front...

Even better as its automatically great midbass/bass reinforcement, i would go with the phase plug to have all bases covered optimally if you are going 2way fronts plus sub.

And if I choose 3-way ?
The Phase plug drivers dont come in 3way sets, so its their standard midbass or the Kickbass as options for a dedicated midbass driver. The kickbass being the more optimal door speakers as its motor adjusts to any door after break-in and settling near optimal Q (0.707). This speaker really pounds the midbass out, its not affected by the anomalies of the avg speaker on how its response is affected by the Vas. It'll kick your *** in a door as little as 15 Liters the same way it does in one as large as 115 Liters.

If either way you are putting a midrange in the door, i'd opt for the 2way to at least minimize point source. Three way with midrange/tweet in kicks with door mounted midbass is a more lucrative choice.

The Kick version has approximately 1.5 times more midbass response than the normal SLC version.
same high-end response????

i noticed the kick version was just a tad bit bigger, but they seem to be approximately the same cost...

just wondering why people would even buy the regular ones if you could get more midbass for the same price.

how big of a jump is it from the SLC kick to the Germ?
at least a couple hundred bucks more.... but from what I hear, germs arent like the SLCs. I hear the germs are more "love or hate" speakers. Ive never heard the germs personally so dont swear by this, but I hear they are a tad bit "piercy" in the upper frequencies, like MB Quartz kinda. No i dea though, I really wanna hear them to see what the fuss is all about.

they are more expensive, so they MUST be good... I dont know though.

and i cant remember who posted it, but someone had side by side pics of the SLCs vs. the germs, and the germs just killed the SLCs... they are beasts and the build quality is amazing.

I prefer the Profi Vanadium phase plug over the Profi Kick paper version. Better midrange and midbass is still very good.

Won't do much lower then 80 Hz, but it blends very good with the sub at 80 Hz 12 dB slope.
