So i'll start from the beginning.

1. went to shop got the sub/amp put into my 1999 c230 mercedes with a hi low since its a stock stereo

2. week goes by, no problems.

3. i go into the trunk where the amp is and adjust some of the knobs like gain and bass booster since they were wayyyyyy to high.

4. radio stops working.

5. find out the inline fuse is blowing constantly. even if the keys not in the ignition the fuse will blow if the wires are connected to the back of the radio.

6. took the fuses out of the amp and right now im driving around with what i started with, no amp/sub.

Thanks, any help is really apperciated the people i got it done with are the shadiest people ever and are taking no responsibility for this. To make things worse they want 25 dollars just to look at it and i know if its something simple they're gonna try to say "oh my man, u need a new system and new radio so ur looking at 500 bucks min."

just cause they treat everyone like a scam opportunity, they already bait n switched me on the fact that they didnt know that i would need a high low, im like wtf how long have u been doing this so they added 45 dollars to the agreed upon deal.

I need to ask you a question or two to clarify what you are experiencing. Stock radio? I dont think I have ever seen a stock radio with an "Inline fuse". Fuses for stock radios are usually in the fuse block except for some older Blaupunkt HU's. Is it possible that your particular "Hi/Low"... a.k.a. Line Out Converter (LOC) requires 12V and maybe that is the fuse you are referring to?

Where did they install the LOC? Behind the HU or in a remote location? It could be a faulty device or a connection gone bad if they stuffed it into a tight spot.

I got a fuse in line with my harness on the constant and switched wire just to protect the stock wiring in the event that say an accident causes wires to get pinched and short out, or if say the headunit is ripped out, maybe a thief or something, I got em their to protect those wires if they somehow slip out of the harness and short out. Completely optional.

i am lead to believe that you have spiced wires somewhere which is causing it to short out and pop your inline fuse like that. what you are going to have to do is check all the wiring that was done. make sure that there are no open strands of wire ANYWHERE. check all new runs of wire as well and make sure there are no open loose strands as well.
