radar detectors??

I'm rocking the escort passport srx. its among the best of the best, and its fully hidden and integrated with my vehicle. saved my ass a lot, even shifted laser a time or two. I did get nabbed a total of three times with it tho. POP radar every time. the valentine1 is probably the best bang for you buck, belscorts high end stuff is good too. but if your looking for a window mount go with the v1, if you looking for a stealth install go with belscort. their customer service was pretty good when my srx went out, sent the hole thing in looking like trash and got it all back in brand new condition and only cost 80 bucks. just don't waste your money on crappy detectors.

Hey bro, is it possible you could get me a link to this and some pictures if it's not hard to get to in your truck? If it is then no problem. Do you have it setup where it comes over your speakers or what?

I'm using a K40 undetectable (completely hidden) radar system at the moment and it's worked great for me....they even back their ish up by offering to pay any ticket that you get. In fact, I had one in my other vehicle as well and took it out before I sold the car (willing to sell if you're interested).

If you're going to go the high end route, look into their new (calibre) models that use bluetooth technology. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. By the way, you can also add their laser defusers for complete protection. Oh, and if the price scares you, ebay will save you a few hundred bucks.....

K40's ticket guarantee is the same as the other companies that offer the same, though, isn't it?

If you are going more than 10% over the posted limit or 15mph over (whichever is less) they won't pay?

Is that right?

True that. Not to mention all the other hidden stuff in blueprint. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suicide.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

The only "catch" for the (K40) ticket guarantee is that you weren't in a school zone or DUI (or DWI) when you got the ticket. I did forget to mention that the guarantee is only good for one year though (after you purchase the radar detector). After that, you're on your own. I'm guessing they do this because they asume that after a year of use you'll know how to properly react when the radar detector goes off.

The other nice thing about K40 is that if your radar detector system -or any part of it- is EVER stolen, they will replace it for free...I'm not sure if that applies to their visor/windshield mounted units though.

Have you guys downloaded the Calibre brochure or owners manual on the K40 site? You will be amazed.....

Read the above test to see how the V1 although a great detector is losing some ground to others in terms of range on radar bands.

There is also an interesting note about the V1 and its apparent heat issues when exposed to intense sunlight. The STi shut down in a protect mode, while the V1 kept going until it failed. Once cooled down, the STi detected on all bands, while the V1 had stopped functioning on two bands.

I'd expect the heat issue to be addressed by Valentine in the next software upgrade, but it could be an problem on current detectors.

Full agreement with other posters that you aren't helping yourself with a cheap detector. You'll just feel confident since you have one and get nailed even easier than before.

I read that link awhile ago...finding an unbiased review is tough for radars. However, in FL, I have used my V1 with no heat issues at all. My radar has been scolding hot many times, yet has worked flawlessly. Who knows...
