Shouldn't have to at all. The cutout is a tad larger then what sundown calls for. Let me know how things are going.Ok trying to get the subs in now but the basket is tapered so I have to shave some off the inside i think.
So how does it sound and perform? Glad it worked out for you in the end. If you get another 1" or so you will be around 8-9 inches from the rear hatch area.Well I think it's ok being closer to the rear hatch If I mount my amps lower on my rear seats I can get another inch more room i think, but wow man you know how to build a box lol. Next spring I want to get a newer SUV hopefully with more room in the hatch and one of those compartments in the hatch floor where I can install my amps.
I just think it would make it rattle more than if it was farther from it but it seems to be working ok, I really need to move my 4 channel down a bit and maybe the aq2200d then I can push the box back another inch or so.Using the hatch for a loading wall typically does yield a higher spl number. It is all about application though.
