Does having an active head unit make any difference when running an amp? any help is appreciated.

you dont have to use any crossovers on the amp, only think i can think of right now

id rather use the xovers on hu, everything is more controllable up front

yes, much eaiser to tune because you dont have to go back and forth to the eq, its right there in the dash within arms length

i have a 780. its capable of controlling crossovers but because its not active, i cant control the crossovers through the head unit if all the speakers are amplified?

Most Hu's crossover points are pre-set; I don't like that, and I don't really trust 'em.

I'd rather have a full signal as far as possible, right up until the point where I xover and eq it, just before the amp xo.

going active is great.

if your HU is capable of adjusting xover points/slopes, then use it, instead of the amps' xovers.

depends on your amps. most xovers class D amps for subs are fixed, or always on.
I'd to run a FR signal to my amps if I'm using my HU's xovers..

^ how was it and how fast did they load cds/mp3s? can you adjust slopes on there as well?
