"Don't Pump Gas Day" results.

if we really want to lower gas prices, we have to stop buying gas from exxon and the other real big compmanies.
i cant wait till bush gets out of the white house, i hope that the next president puts a cap on gas prices because there is NO reason that gas should cost this much, especially when exxon made what 60 billion dollars in profit last year?
lol, yea, bush controls the gas prices, not the actual oil companies.

$3.39 here, it actually went up $.20 yesterday... +1 for the oil companies.

Gas affects everything, not just how much you put in your tank. Food costs rise because it costs more for the food to get wherever it needs to go, same with shipping charges.

Sh*t sucks but its the real deal.

I wonder how many people actually did it.

And although its been said before...the only way to actually have any impact on the companies themselves, there would need to be a nationwide movement to buy gas from only one company. The others, would conceivably, need to drop their prices to regain their market share...

That won't work for the long term.

If you cap the price of gas there will be shortages... the USA already tried that one smart guy

Also there aren't exactly any "small" oil comapnies. It take many millions, if not billions to pump oil out of the ground and refine it. Ma and Pop oil company wouldn't be in business very long....

that wouldn't work because that one company would have to buy from the other companies to fulfill all the demand... it would only hurt the station owners and the idiots sitting in line for hours to get gas...

Remember, gasoline is a commodity, it's essentially the same product no matter who you buy it from. Buying from one company, only on certain days, etc etc etc won't effect prices. The only way to effect prices (while maintaining the supply) is lower demand or increase supply....

Meh...

Nothing's foolproof.

I need to get another bike and regain my 40mpg...

that would actually be more helpful than anything else...
but if we all started riding motorcycles our insurance/healthcare bills would go up...
Ya know what I noticed...

There was a toyota/scion display in the middle of our local mall with some of their cheap, econo cars including the Xa and Prius. The pricetag, on the Prius, was well over $30k for a car that does 50MPG...but the Xa, was half the price, and did 30MPG.

I'm too lazy to do the math, but is the Prius really saving you money in the long run?
