Hi,

i was looking to buy a Hifonics 1606D Mono amp and hooking that up to my dual alpine swr-1222d now the amp does 1100W RMS at 2 ohms and each sub has dual voice coils at 2ohms. i was just wondering how does the hookup work for using a mono amp to connect to two subs? does this lower the resistance or do both subs still get the 2ohms?

~Thanks

All car audio amps are wireless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

the dual 2 ohm is convienient for running in pairs. the dual 4 ohm is convienient to run as one sub. because to power two of them you would want a dual 2 ohm so it can be powered by a 2ohm amp. easier and cheaper to find an amp that does 1000w at 2 ohms than 1000w at 4 ohms. if you have two of them they can be run at 2 ohm load, which your amp would power perfectly(1000w at 2 ohms).

but to run one dual 2 ohm it will be a 4 ohm load or a 1 ohm load depending on wiring you do. you could also use 2 amps, 1 for each voicecoil at 2 ohms.

i have one swr-1222d also, i run 500w to it at 4 ohms. i am considering selling mine for a dual 4 ohm so i can have more amp headroom since my amp does 500w at 4 ohms (currently) or 800w at 2 ohms, pm me if your interested and that one type R is not enough bumpage for you. selling for 100$ with a sealed box
