Hello all. I have some Diamond Audio Dn 24x component speakers that I am installing in a new car. (Blast from the past--I originally had them in a Mustang in 1996.) they worked great back then, but I am having problems with them now. The woofers sound fine, but the tweeters are so soft that I can barely hear them at all.
I tested the wiring to the tweeters for continuity and all is good. Then, I checked the resistance. It is 8 ohms. The woofers from the set are 4 ohms. Aren't car speakers supposed to be 4 ohm?
I am currently just using the built-in amp in my Alpine head unit, but I am about to hook up my Phoenix Gold Sapphire amp--will that make a difference? The Alpine is 15W rms. The Phoenix is 60W rms. I am using the passive crossovers that came with the Diamond components, and I have the tweeters set to 0dB attenuation. The "rear" outputs are not being used and are set to "off."
What am I missing, here? The tweeters don't sound blown, just extremely quiet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
