Quick woofer wire question

I just installed my new woofers and I am running 12 gauge from the amp to the terminals on the box. If I changed that to 8 gauge would I have to change the inside the box connecting the voice coils to 8 gauge? Inside the box I am running 12 gauge on the coils.

Its a good habit to do so. Changing only one set really serves no purpose.

Just cause I have a lot of 8 gauge lying around. So it should be fine with the 12 then?

12 AWG will suffice and is more than adequate
