Quick wiring question

I have an amp that does 400 watts RMS x 2 channels @ 4 ohms. I want to wire each channel to each of the voice coils on my Type R 12. I should use an RCA splitter to make both of the channels have either the left or right signal, right? Or is it ok to just plug it into the amp and have the right RCA going to one voice coil and the left going to another. I don't want to mess anything up.

2.2 ft^3 box tuned to 34 hz
