Quick wire check

I'm in the process of finishing my box and need to double check the kind of wiring I'm going to be using. I'm running a nine.1 amp to a 15" Brahma. I've been told 8 gauge from the amp to the sub is more than enough. Have I been informed correctly? If so, I'm going to go order what I need to finish this thing up.

8 gauge is more than enough.

You could easily get away with something a little smaller.

Now I just need to find some cable to pick up. I must not be searching correctly, haha.

Also, what should be run from the battery to the amp? I won't be doing this myself, so the guy doing it should know, but I was figuring 2 gauge?
