Quick question......

I figured that this was the best place to get informaiton since this is a forum with people from all across the US.

A very short background. I own a company that has developed something to go into daycare vehicles that will require installation.

What is common practice when someone purchases a piece of equipment and bring it to a shop for installation? Is it normally received well? Are there any hoops to go through in the process?

Honestly looking for good advice. If I'm in the wrong forum and you know of a better one on where to get answers, please send me in that direction.

If you don't want to answer here, please send me a PM.

Thanks!

If it was reasonable for the shop to do so, then I guess they shouldn't have a problem. May I inquire as to what (without divulging any company "secrets") you plan on selling? An in car baby mobile?

Shops go either way on this. Some will install anything, some won't touch it unles you buy from them. Really if I were a shop, my main issue would be messing up something I wasn't familiar with and having to buy it. Really not a lot of information to go on. I suspect it depends a lot on the complexity of the thing. Also if there are complications to integrate with certain vehicles you should have a comprehensive list somewhere available to installers.

The product is a child reminder system for daycare vehicles and school buses. Connecting it would be less complex than installing a car stereo. Instructions would be given with the product but it's pretty straight forward. On a difficulty rating, I would consider it between a typical car stereo and an alarm system.

The reason I am asking is because many states are looking at passing a law requiring a system like ours and 4 states already have laws on the books. We basically need installers across the US......but we are no where near big enough to hire them. It would be much easier for customers of ours to bring the vehicle to a local shop and have them install it. It's a win/win situation for the most part.

Thank you to those that have responded. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
