which is a better amp... the JL 500/1 or the alpine mono v12 amp (MRD-M1005)?

Alpine puts out more power, JL puts out the same power up to 4 ohms. I have had a similat Alpine amp and liked it, but it would depend on how you are going to be using it.

The are both quality units. They aren't particularly comparable as they both have abilities that the other doesn't....such as:

You can't get a kilowatt out of the JL 500/1.

You can't run that Alpine at 1.5 Ohms safely for long periods of time.

Like mikey said ~ it all depends on what you're looking for the amp to do for you.
