quick question if anybody knows ipods

can the older generation (non video) ipods store picture and video files or music only?....does the file format matter?

i believe you can sotre just about any format. just drag items into the note section under my computer.

how sure are you?.....i wanna use one for a small external hd and for music but if it won't hold my other files i'll need to save more for a newer one......

You can place any files on the ipod. It will act as an external hdd. I use it for video storage/ picture storage (3rd gen ipod).

You can make a shortcut to your ipod drive (you don't need to make a shortcut if you don't want to) and then copy/paste or drag items into ipod drive folder. (Find your drive in "My Computer" etc.)
