Quick question, extreme flex/sound deadening

So.

My DD's are tearing my truck apart. When I bought the truck, told myself I wasn't going to go over 1000 RMS this go around; gonna keep it modest. That being said, i didn't lay any butyl or deadner.

Well, as usual that didn't happen and im now planning on strapping a 2nd M3b for a total (hopefully) of 7k. But even right now, my roof and back wall of the cab are flexing so bad when i start getting down on the lowz.

Sounds like...idk, either kicking or throwing a big rock at the side of a sheet metal shed, or panel or something. That deep twanging tremble that goes front to back until the energy is depleted. But in the case of loud music, until you turn it down or change songs. But who wants to do that?

So. Will laying some deadner in between the headliner and roof , and behind the trim on the back wall of the cab reduce this to any noticeable degree? Im mainly concerned with the back wall, as thats where my amps are mounted. If i didn't mind them being in a simulated washing machine, I would've just mounted them to the box.

The reason i ask now, is i need to do it while i have everything out , before doing the double amp strappage. And if you. guys dont see it helping much on 7k, ill just skip the whole thing and create a place elsewhere for all my amps.

Sorry for the rant. I feel the more info one provides, the easier it is to receive a straight answer. Thanks!

I'd go for something that actually braces for the roof like plywood, cheaper and more effective along with some great stuff foam on top of the deadener and tennis balls for the back as martin stated. Might as well future proof it now.

take it you fixed the amp issue? Just lay deadener on the whole truck, maybe 3 knoknoise kolossus bulk packs will do the job
Don't think so. That's why im prepping for the upcoming storm haha. Latest update on that: i rewired my woofers into just a twist and tape, got rid of all the wiring junctions and terminals, binding posts. May work for many other people. But most DD's are dual 1 ohm or lower so folks can wire down super low. Mine are dual 4's. So my thoughts were maybe each ring terminal off each lead attached to another lead, to another, to the box, etc.. was all adding tiny bits of.resistance.

It definitely sounds better, but to be honest ,i haven't re clamped it yet. Im scared to, dont want to accept i got fcked on another amp if its still indeed not outputting. Ill be doing some burps and having some fun with some IdahoSPL people tomorrow and ill know for sure, if alls good, i have another m3b waiting for me. Ill be down to .5 ohm strapped, probably will be doing closer to 9k if all goes right. :O

But i just want to make sure im not driving a can of spray paint with wheels.

So far then , are we going for a 'yes, itd help and is worth doing " ? At that much power, didn't know it deadening was redundant or not?

Also is keeping the amps where there at ok ? Im just afraid to vibrate them to death, cause a connection to come loose from teh flexz

rubber gaskets, brace the wall with wood along with deadener or weld some metal sheets and you should be fine. A rule of thumb is place your head right on that area with music blasted and see if you want your amps to be subjected to what your head feels.

Disclaimer: I am not liable any headaches or migraines you might feel

Thats one i took during install. I do have a half inch piece of birch ply that the amps are mounted to. Wood is mounted to the body

Funny, my amps are mounted exactly the same way and even though the board is glued to the back well it still seems to flex and make a lot of noise

I'd suggest using some sort of glue (I used some loctite stuff from home depot) and gluing the board to the wall. Those screws will likely pull out over time, unless they're bolts. Not to mention the problem of rust and moisture getting in. I covered up all the holes from where my amps used to mount with glue then applied glue to the board, and used temp screws to hold it in while it dried. After it dried I took the screws out and filled the holes with glue. Glue doesn't make for the cleanest look unless you get all picky with it, but just like with your truck, my back seat hides it all so i dont really care.

Did you throw a DDM on you sub box? What is it reading now?
I still don't know what you are referring to saying 'Metering the box' . Unless you are referring to something else and saying it in a way im not understanding...
