quick computer question(system restore)

my laptop been acting up lately and when i went to start it up it it started up in repair mode or something like that and is asking me of i want to restore my system back to when it was working normally. but im wondering if i will loose my files and documents and stuff. i have all my notes for class on there and if i loose those id be pissed:verymad:if anyone knows for sure id appreciate it. thanks.

it shouldnt delete any files. the restore should restore the settings to a time when everything worked correctly. worst case you could always back the files up before restoring.

system resotre points usually ****. save ure most important files and do a full system recovery and start from scratch. full system recovery will start u off the way it did from day1

back your ish up, most likely its going to restore your computer to a point before your stuff was put on your computer and poof gone... back it up!!!

no system restore will not delete any files or docs or soemthing that you have attained after the set restore point. it helps alot when you screw up a setting and you have no idea what you did.

how do i back it up? may be dumb question. i was just going to email my self all word documents and when i get it working again ill just open the email and get them back.

that would work. another cheap option would be a 8 or 16 gig thumb drive if you do not want to add a second hard drive

external HDs are getting pretty cheap. look on pricegrabber.com for a nice 500gb external HD.

i've restored my labtop twice now and not by choice. it is like brand new again! i would back up all you important s**t on cd or dvd or email like you said and restore it to brand new.
