Quick Amp Wiring Question

So I got an amp off my friend to power my rear speakers. I know how to hook the amp and all that but what do I do with factory speaker wires that currently power the speakers from the stereo? Do I just disconnect the wires where they are spliced into the wire harness at the stereo and cap it off? Any help is appreciated.

Yes. Cut and cap-off the speaker outputs near the head unit. I assume your HU has RCA outputs to connect to your new amp?

Yes I have a Kenwood Stereo with RCA outputs. Thanks for the help.
