Quick Amp/Sub wiring question

Is there any way to mathematically find what my amp would be rated at bridged 8ohm if its rated 460W 4ohm bridged or 150W x2 4ohm.

I ask this because I'm trying to decide whether I want to run my amp bridged at 8ohms or a sub on each channel.

If it is 150w x2 at 4 ohms, then it will be 300 watts bridged at 8 ohms.

His amp is rated for 460w @ 4 Ohms mono bridged.

Now I'm no audio guru here but if we know the value for bridged output when shown a 4 Ohm load....wouldn't it stand to reason that when the resistance is doubled the output would be halved?

Ergo ~ 230w @ 8 Ohms mono bridged?

If you wire your subs for 8 ohm and bridge it, your amp will see a 4 ohm load, theoretically sending 230 watts rms to each sub. Which is probably what you want to do, I could be wrong though.....sarcastically speaking.

Umm.....the amp will see what load you present to it.

If you wire subs to an 8 Ohm load then the amp is going to see 8 Ohms.

As such it isn't going to output what it would when shown half that resistance, or 460w @ 4 Ohms.

That's along the lines of what I was thinking prowler, ~230w @ 8ohms.

You are right prowler, I am wrong. Anyhow, whether you wire your subs to 8 ohms and bridge it or wire one sub to each channel you are going to see about the same power output from that particular amp and sub setup.

Yeah, I was gonna say electropro, there is no way to get 4 ohms with 2 svc...which would be preferable though. And is why I'm going to switch over to dvc, probably the soundsplinter 10's pending when I hear my friends
