Question to all S-Series owners...

maybe some shallow mount 6.5's with some mods...the duct work from the vents would prohibit deep mount speakers....
hmm. I'm not sure what component set I will be using yet. Would something like this be okay? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13966_Infinity+Kappa+462.9cfp.html

I was thinking of using the same components in the dash and in the doors, 2 way I'm pretty sure. Tweeter in each pillar and tweeter in each door or two tweeters per each pillar and a 6.5 in the doors and dash..

why do you want 2 sets of components up front??

Why not just run one set and do it properly?

Ive run setups in several S-series. Do not use the dash mounting locations. One set of comps, in the doors, and tweeters in a-pillar if you want, is all that should be needed.

You wont even get 5-1/4's in that dash without serious modification anyway.

My cavalier had stock 4x6" speakers and Ive fit a 7" in there. Takes some modification but it can be done. Not sure what your door looks like on the inside though, mine was pretty empty.

I dont recommend reflecting the tweeters off the windshield, as dash mounting would require.
I didnt care for it too much either but I didnt want to make any extra holes in the interior until I was sure I was keeping the truck. Actually it doesnt sound too bad in the dash but It would sound better off axis low and away for the tweeter Iam currently using.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do. I was kinda thinking of getting some PG RSds for the doors and putting the tweeters in the pillars. I've never done a component setup before so its all new to me. My truck is a base model SL if that helps. Do you have to pull the panels off to get the speakers out the doors? It sure does look that way.

I don't like the idea of kick panels.
