IMO.....its got more to do with your install i.e. baffles, sound deaden-er, speaker placement, imaging, and equalization.

Hard to really pin point which products are better...especially without listening to them for yourself as everyone's opinion of "sound better" will be different.

feeding a 2 or 3 way component set with enough power from an external amplifier and spending some time and money on your install should get you where you want to be. no matter the brand of speakers

For their price range ($180-$250 approx) they are arguably the best. They are great overall components but through persoal experience as well as through research I've found that they are not very good speakers for running active and that at best you can obtain the same sound as you get from the passive speakers. I'm not sure why, but that is just how these are. The tweeters are pretty high for my liking (I like very laid back, relaxed, and smooth) but I've managed to EQ them out to a point where I can live with them. Overall I'd recommend them for the price and they are very worth while for the price and worth a shot.
