Question: single 12" for SQL $500

To all those to suggested a 15: the main problem is that I can not fit it. Period. The trunk has an oddly shaped decklid, so I can not physically place a box in the trunk.... I have to build it in the trunk or I won't even be able to get it in there (unless it's less than 12"x12"x12" or so). The trunk only has 14.5" roughly of height clearance, and only 18" of depth to work with. It is a disgustingly tight fit right now with my 2 10" drivers. I am looking into the mag / amp deal if anyone has any comments on that.... also I am going to take a look at little thumper's suggestion... any comments on that?

well i did because you cant fit the **** box in without building it inside the trunk so i guess i did say something....unless the box is extremely small

I was under the assumption the box WOULD be built in the trunk. Some vehicles, to fit any serious bass, its a necessity... that's one of them.

I think you need the box my friend got for 2 10s.....it fits PERFECTLY into the trunk opening. God if only I knew the demensions:eyebrow:

agree with the mag recommendation. check the for sale section on http://www.ecoustics.com the price once they hit 8 orders have been posted. unbelievable is all i got to say.

Yea $350 for 8 people, I think I am now sold since I found out that SI was dropshipping the drivers. I guess I don't have to worry much.

I had someone recommend a massive DMX 12", what do you guys think of that woofer? The seller also suggested I pick up his Kicker ZX1500.1 to pair it with. Correct me if i'm wrong but the kicker amp likes 4 or 2 ohms, and the sub is a dual 2 ohm..... running the amp at 4 ohms would be inefficient or 1 ohm would be bad and it might overheat or go into protect, no? (I drive for extended periods of time, this isn't burping) But for the woofer itself - anyone have comments?

Hmm, I'm not going to recommend a specific sub...you can do a ton of research on all the boards...

I just wanted to relay my experience....

Sick, digustingly loud? It can be done with 1 12. In my 98' M3 I had a 3.0 cu. ft box for 1 12 tuned to 30'ish hz...it was hitting 142+ on my EPIC 150...that was loud enough for me...

On a BMW club drive the guy in front of me was telling me he could feel my sub in his car...

So a ported box with 1 12 can hit really hard...

And get this...the box was made with 1/2" mdf...that's right if you brace it (with dowels) correctly 1/2" mdf works fine (less weight/more airspace)...

The smallest I've gone for a ported 15 was 3.5 cubes with 50" of port...

I can't really do ported since I'm building the box in the trunk, and I said that a few times already... I wanted something that would perform well sealed. I don't need it to be over 140db, my goal is 135db and good clean low end

I have a 12" Polk Audio 124-DVC with Alpine MRD-1005 @ 2ohms very clean I LIKE IT ALOT. Sealed sub box 1.2^3 recommended.
