Current set up is 1 12" Type-R in a 1.15 cu ft. box that is ported and getting 500w RMS...and for what i have i love it...although i'd like to get a little bit louder if feasible.

That box that its in now is a pre-fab as well. That box i am looking to get is the 12lsv from Atrend..It is supposed to be 2.0 cu ft (After woofer displacement i believe)...and supposedly tuned to 32hz so i have heard. Will i get a little louder putting in a bigger box like this?

I know you guys are DIY'ers when it comes to boxes...So don't rag on me too much about pre-fabs lol Thanks.

Yeah that does seem big......you're not using that much power though. Maybe it will be more efficent in a bigger box
When considering box size, Ive seen a lot of talk lately simply about input power to the speaker (not picking you out specifically bhsdriller). Dont forget guys, enclosure volume not only affects the excursion compliance, but also affects sub/enclosure alignment. Dont go grossly large on your box just because you are grossly underpowering your speaker, you may end up with a grossly exaggerated bottom end and a pitiful upper bass response.

Again not pointing you out bhs, Ive been meaning to say this for a while now. You just reminded me to do so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

A smaller enclosure tends to make the response narrower, and increases output within that narrowed band (commonly referred to as a more peaky response). This is generally good for the mic, but bad for music. A larger enclosure tends to do the opposite.

Speaking in very general terms here.

How about this box?

I'm guessing the fb stand for 33hz?

I was also looking at this box...as far as the port tuning im not too sure what it is...but its 3.0cu ft...I'm only pushing 500rms...is this too big?

Also i checked the specs on the box i currently have it is indeed 1.15cu ft before woofer displacement and tuned i believe 40-43...

still seems small. get someone to make you one on here. i had a pair in a 4 cube box tuned to 35hz and it wanged. also give it more power if you can. i had 1500 going to a pair of 12's

I have 1 12 on 500w...I just need a new box...not looking to upgrade the equipment. Just trying to see which one of those 2 boxes would be more suitable for the power i am currently running. I know,Its baby weight compared to some of you guys lmao.

sorry if i missed it cause i just skimmed through the thread but is there any reason why you're stuck on getting a prefab? you can get pro-rabbit to ship out a custom box to you that would match your sub perfectly.

So after contacting Atrend i got a pretty cool response from them. They told me they are about to launch a program in which if you are a Best Buy employee (Which i currently am) They will build a box based from a design you send them. So im guessing maybe 2.5 cubes and 37hz?

Well there ya go tell them to use screws insted of staples //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I've seen quite a few prefabs blow apart none that I built tho. ALPINE RULES
