Question Paint Job

How much does it usually cost for a new paint job? I don't need a special candy paint or anything.

I also don't need a shitty paint job either (I know it depends where i take it)

But really how much does it usually cost for a good paint job.

I'm planning to repaint my 1994 ls400 to a black color and work from there.

I got my 1999 gt painted Black for 1600, car had body damage too. But this was my neighbor who hooked me up (owns body shop), he said they would of charged 4000 at any other shop, he used HIGH QUality paint too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you can get a buddy to do it, prolly like $500 for decent (not super high quality, but not utter shit) paint and supplies (sandpaper, etc.)

But for a regular paint job, it'll cost around $1,600 I think.

I have completely painted cars for as little as $300... I have also paid over $5K just for paint before... I am going to be doing my '66 cadillac myslef and plan to spend around $1K for supplies and everything and i already have all the sad paper and primer... Did my buddies Grand Am for under $150 (polyurithane enamel) using an Ebay kit, it actualy worked very well and after cut/buff was VERY nice looking (went from some ghey seafoam blue/green to jet black)

this is no help i am sure but "professioanly" you could pay $500-$50,000....

I do paint and body.

This really depends on what kind of shape the car is in. If there is no body work to be done then it will be cheaper. Things like door dings aren't a big deal as long as there are only a few of them. If you want to paint the car black, then it would help if the car was already a dark color, if not, you may be looking at more money. Also, black is a hard color to paint because every little imperfection shows with black, such as door dings and what not. It also depends on what kind of paint you want to use. There are several big companies like Dupont, PPG, BASF to name a few. Each company makes different lines of paint, just like speaker companies make different lines of subs. Black is the cheapest color of paint to buy, so that will help you. If your car is in decent shape, with only a few dings or paint chips, and already a dark color, then I would say that you would say that materials would run you around $500 roughly, if you went with the middle of the road paint. At a shop, you are probably looking at $1500 up.

paid 2800 for my rust bucket dented piece of shit camaro to a BEAUTIFUL Blue w/ Silver Racing stripe masterpiece! lol.... It would have been cheaper but my camaro came stock with a 78 corvette blue (i believe...it costed well over $78 a PINT)

I work at a body shop as well and a complete job with no damage would probably 4000 or higher. Most of the cost is in the labor. I recently repainted my 02 monte carlo and I had $1000 dollars in paint. But I did all my own work which saves probably 3500 to 4500 in labor. Also dont go for the cheapest paint that you can find because it probably wont hold up very well over time.

thats why i take all my cars to atlanta to get painted not only are they better than any shop in the midwest but i can get a top of the line paint job for bout 5k

hell candy is only like 3 k down south FTMFW

i would say $2K-$5K. make sure you get a good clear coat. i have dupont on mine and it's one of the best.

my truck had a bunch of custom body work done, as well as a complete paint job including fanged racing stripes and a hand pinstripe. they also painted a bunch of interior pieces and my intake scoop and HEMI hat. this should have cost someone about $12K-$15K but i didn't pay nearly that much.
