Question on upgrading big 3

So, I am about to upgrade the big 3 this weekend, and I was looking at my powers, grounds, etc. And I noticed on my power wire coming from my alternator, it starts from there and then goes to a little block, which then connects to the battery power wire. Should I go ahead and upgrade both wires? I tried to take a picture but it was a little hard to take one at the moment.

What type of car is it? I need to do the Big 3 to my ford truck and mine is kind of the same as yours. My power wire goes to a solenoid and then to the alternator. Soo....i need to know this also

06 Pontiac g6, I seen one video where someone kinda just bypassed it, but I'm kinda optimistic on doing that, I assume since it runs the part, its kinda needed.
