question on running a relay

vehicle is a 98 cavalier, Hu is 880prs

My amps are at the rear of the car and was wondering if i can use the positive and negative of the amps to power the relay

misread the question, what do you want to power up piggy backing off the amp?

you could do something small like a neon, or something that draws little power, but if its to power something like a tv or something, run a seperate power/ neg

Yea just use the amp + and - to trigger the relay. Get the actual power elsewhere.
??? Power elsewhere? I plan on doing the same thing to power my processor and a relay....though I had no problem powering three amps so far off the HU remote. Why not steal power where it's available.

Learn what you're talking about before posting.

Yes you can hook the + and - up to the terminals of an amp. That will give you power to the relay. Use the remote on wire on the trigger terminal to switch the relay. As said above, I wouldn't power anything very high draw off the relay like this, but for a couple of fans, remote ons for the amps, some LEDs or the such it should be just fine.
