Question On OHMs.

Hey =] Quick question. I'm going to be buying an (1) Alpine Type-R 12 inch sub. I'm trying to pick the right amp for it. The amp I will be buying is going to be a monoblock 500 RMS at 2 OHM stable.

 

Knowing this, The subs need to be the 4OHM version, Correct? (Voice coils wired to 2 OHMs right??) And is this the best thing to do, buying just one sub. Do you have any other ideas?

Dual 4ohm sub will wire down to 2ohms, yes.

Or get a dual 1 ohm version, parallel them for 2.

And the R's don't come in D1 last time I checked.

And yeah, they don't.....but that's why I wouldn't run an R......get a real sub. 2 subs with dual 1's....run it down to .25 strapped....haha.

you cant go wrong with SSA Dcons for that price or for the price of an R get an AQ SDC2.5...both the Dcon and SDC are good quality subs

Dual 4 ohm: 2 & 8 ohm.

Dual 2 ohm: 1 & 4 ohm.

145 or so for the sub. 170 for amp. Only want one sub =] Appriciate your input.

Thanks for the advice I'll check em out. Do you think they are BETTER than the R's or about the same?
