Question on hu amp output

So i just bought an in-dash (still on the way) from a guy thats used but i got it for a great price and was wondering if you guys think i'd be fine with the amp output from the headunit or if i need an amp for the speakers. It puts out 85w x 4 which i figured would be sufficient since most speakers RMS is about 50w but what about for the alpine type r's? do you think i should get another amp to power them or just run them each at the 85w the headunit puts out? let me know audio experts...

It wont put out 85 watts rms.

Probably more like 15-22.

Get an amp. What deck is it though?

Highest Ive seen is that panasonic that claimed like 60 x 4 rms.

its a BOSS headunit, it wasn't one that i was all too familiar with and im only goin off of what he posted about it but it was at a great price and seemed good but it said it is 340w and puts out 85w x 4 so i dont know anymore than that til i receive the unit...

if its Boss, it probably does like 4 X 10-12 watts... and unless it was free, it was too much!!!

Just for future reference, you might want to know a little about something youre getting.

if its Boss, it probably does like 4 X 10-12 watts... and unless it was free, it was too much!!!

Agreed. I would doubt it very much if it actually put out even 20 watts rms. So you be the judge as whether you think that's enough,
