2 Alpine Type R 15"s
I am probably going to build a box that is 38" wide for two 15"s...I was wanting to make the chambers completely seperate with their own respective ports....I don't know if I'm being an idiot but I can't figure out if there will be enough room for a port on the side or not...My reasoning is that each chamber will be 19" wide....once you mount the woofer...this leaves only a little room on each side of the woofer....Am I going to have room for the port....Man am I having trouble designing this box...if anyone is interested in helping me....the box will be 38" wide....20" high...and 18" deep....I am wanting to have a divider in the middle for seperating the chambers....Any help would be appreciated.

wow you have a lot of threads about this, let me try.

What type of music do you listen to

Subs are ______________

Vehicle is a __________

Amps are_____________

What are the subs displacement

I would put the port on the bottom but I read on JL Audio's port site that the port width and the height should have a ratio of no more than 9 to 1 to avoid a mistuning or something....Also....I was reading on George's ported design thread that he usually uses 60 to 80 in^2 for the port area...and to add more port area for more than one subwoofer....Why is this? Does it matter how much port area it is? I'm a complete newbie when it comes to designing a ported box...Probably why I have all these **** questions...Thanks for tryin to help everyone.

with the dimensions you gave 20x18x38 and let's say tuned to 32hz, this is just rough mind you

that would be (again roughly) a gross of 6.5 ft^3

And let's say the port was 18.5x4

and a port lenght of 45"

that would give you around 4 cubes net. that's minus the port and the sub disp.

**these are not exact measurments on the port, just an idea** The port should be close though..
