Question on basics...!

I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX Sedan. Ok, everything is still factory. I have the two rears and two fronts, all 6 1/2". What manufacturers are good for a decent budget. Let's say I want a new HU, 4 speakers and a sub. Let's say I can only spend about $500.

I like bass but also crisp sound. I hate that annoying distorted bass you hear in some cars who have cheap subs that drive by your house at 3:00am. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.gif

Anyway, for me who's on a tight budget but wants something decent, what should I look for?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the The Koda 6 for the speakers? That's the only ones on that page I saw that were 6 1/2". Although I never heard of this manufacturer, they look pretty solid. Again, I have not been around car audio or studied it so I have no clue what's good and what's cheap. Not that I am saying these are, I just simply don't know.

I was just going to go to Best Buy or something and get help picking something out. That's how frustrated I am with my factory junk! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Well, I'll keep reading and learning. Thanks for the link!

x2 ^^^^^^^

That is getting a lot done with a very small budget. Why not replace the factories with some descent speaker with an amp and add a sub when you get the cash.

ngsm13 lives by you. He's on the forum. Ask him for help:D

Well, how important is the HU if I just add a decent amp and get some quality speakers? Will my factory HU work ok? I do like deep bass, that's why I want a sub. But yes, it can wait. I know $500 isn't much but from what I've been seeing speakers aren't thay expensive. The HU can be, depending on what I need in the future. So four-way isn't good eh? That's the kinds stuff I need to know. What to stay away from and what's decent. I know it's just a matter of reading these forums...

Thanks for the comments so far.

BTW: I like all kinds of music but I'm really into Rave, Trance sound. Driving with the volume all the way up and some hardcore Rave tunes makes all your worries go away! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

IMO, I think you should run a 4-channel amplifier, take out the two rear speakers, replace the front speakers with high-end components, and bridge a subwoofer off the rear channels ... The head unit doesn't have to be replaced ...
If you want bass with descent sound for your price this is probably the best option.

So...

I'd just have the two fronts, an AMP, and a sub? No individual rears at all? Or am I missing something when you say bridge? Sorry, I'm an idiot when it comes to all this. Anyway, if this is true, what type of sub should it be? Can you provide some links to the type of sub and AMP for me? Or, maybe some model numbers and basic costs involved? No, you don't have to buy them for me too, unless you want! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/clap.gif.178cba2c538c68e720c727fcb024b19c.gif

I am also assuming (you know what that means) that the sub will go in the trunk? Without any rear speakers I don't see how my two fronts would be enough. Hmmm.

Hey, I'm getting closer to understanding... be patient with me.

I'll probably just buy a sub already boxed, or just one of those tube kind. I'll put the money also into the two front speakers like you guys said. I also need a new head unit in my opinion. (I just don't like the factory one!) So, it looks as though I am on a budget of around $500-$600 after the AMP, which should be fine. Now I just have to research and pick out what I like. If you shop around you can usually find closeouts and other good deals. I'm in no hurry so I'll take my time and add one thing at a time. Heck, I'd be happy with just two new fronts and an AMP for now! I can always add a good HU and sub later.

Thanks for all the advice.
