question about wiring subs

if i wire my 2 svc 4ohm subs in series thus showing a 8 ohm load and connected it to a amp bridged what should i expect?

amp is stable at 4ohms bridged.

From what I have read the amp will be fine pushing the higher impedance. They just don't like lower impedences. They say 8 ohm will be fine on a 4ohm stable amp. You will only get half the power.

well im gonna try it since i have only one other option and i would have to make a new box for that(run just one sub)

well i tried it and guess what it made a loud pop and then this "magik" smoke came from the amp.

Oh well back to my 55x2 amp for my subs unless anyone has a free amp out there

There was something else wrong, not the 8ohm load (if that is what it was). Are you sure you didn't actually drop it down to a 2 ohm load instead?

Did you wire your subs positive to poitive to the amp neg, neg, to the amp or

neg, pos to the amp pos, neg to the amp ?

That's how your wiring should be. I think you may have done what was said and dropped it to 2ohm. But they say most amps have some kind of protection built into them. What kind of amp is it ?

i wired it ciorrectly per rockford wiring wizard andi think the amp was just on its last leg

In all actuallity you would have been better off just running the one sub anyway. Getting more power from the amp is good and avoiding series wiring between subs is good as well.

Too late for that now, get yourself a 2 ohm stable mono amp for those subs.
