Question about subwoofer power

Guys

I bought a JL Audio 12W1V2 subwoofer today and per the JL audio page http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=16 the optimum power for this is in the 125W range.

I will be connecting this to an Alpine PDX-5 amp which is quoted at 300W RMS output for the sub. Am I going to blow this speaker if I connect it to the Alpine? Should I upgrade to the 600W version of the JL audio woofer?

The full 300wrms of the amp may be pushing it for the single 125wrms sub.
yeah I goofed, I should have consulted the JL Audio page first. Guess I will return it for the 600W version tomorrow.

that sounds good. I'm glad you can return it. A jl w3 is best because if you ever want a bit more power you can just get another jl w3 and it will get plenty loud.

Good luck. Set your gains all the way up on the amp if getting a w3

no that will be a good match actually.

Do not sent your gains all the way up. The gain is not a volume knob.

no, you should get a jl w3 to match your amp
