Question about strapping....

I have 8 alpine type r 10's. They are d4. I dont think I can wire them all together for a 1 ohm load. I think I can get a 2 ohm load though. My question is If I take a aqx35001 amp and strap it to another one, If I put all 8 subs with a final load of 2 ohms to both amps, does that make each amp put out 1 ohm? (I mean do they split the 2 ohm load or how does that work)

you can wire all 8 up individually in series, then the dual 4's will become single 8's, then you can parallel all 8 pr of speaker wires to a 1 ohm final load //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yes, strapping normally splits the load so they'd see 1ohm each. But I know there's an amp or two that don't work that way, just can't remember which ones...

the amps will be at a .5ohm load.

edit: bleh, i read if he wanted a final load of 1 ohm @ strapped each amp would be at .5

that would also work. I just "assumed" he wanted more power for the subs...

yeah eight subs would get what 150w per coil off around 2500w? blah!

How do you figure. I need a final 2 ohm load not a final 1 ohm load.

I am confused............So basically if I can get a 2 ohm final load off all 8 subs and hook them up to the 2 aqx35001 amps each amp will be seeing a 1 ohm load thus in return sending 7000+ watts to my 8 subs.

oh my bad i didnt know you had a 2 ohm requirement. strap your amps @ 1 ohm total, running each @ .5 ohm, I bet box rise will make it pretty much ok to do this. Then you will get more out of your amps, provided your elec is up to snuff.
