Question about remote wire installation

I'm kind of a big deal...
Just got a new nine.1 in this morning, hooked everything up and turned my cd player on and my amp wasnt coming on. So, I'm pretty sure the problem is my remote wire. My cd player is a Pioneer 770 and I'm having trouble connecting the remote wire to the deck. I dont have a way to check the voltage of the remote wire. What else can I do?

You're having troubles physically connecting it or what?
Without a DMM it could be a little tough to check to see if the remote turn-on circuit is functioning properly...

If you think that output is suspect then probably the next best thing would be to connect the remote circuit on your amp to a fuse in the fusebox that is ignition controlled (circuit is only hot when the key is on...otherwise the amp would stay on all the time)

That's my best suggestion, anyway.........

Ya, Im having trouble physically connecting it also, I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. The only thing on the back of the deck it has for the remote wire is just a small black opening. It's not even labled

Small black opening? ? ?In the wiring harness that plugs into the back of the HU there should be two blue wires. One will have a white stripe and the other won't. One is for remote amp activation and the other will be for a power antenna. (I do not recall at the moment which is which) Some manufacturers have their decks made where the power antenna lead is only powered when in tuner mode. I do not know if Pioneer is one of these manufacturers as I do not use Pioneer decks. (Off topic but I bought a new HU today and it will be here tomorrow!)

I'm truly a bit lost as to what small black opening you might be referring to...
