(If you don't want to read, and are familiar with Pioneer/AppRadio, skip to bottom)Okay so I did have an iPhone 5 when I bought the HU and I'm pretty sure I was able to connect to my iPhone using just the standard iPhone 5 charger. I'm not positive whether or not I was actually able to--it was during installation so I was just pushing buttons making sure things worked properly.
My iPhone 5 broke and, for the sake of saving my upgrade until the iPhone 6 comes out, I have gone back to an iPhone 4. The standard iPhone 4 cable works fine for playing music and streaming pandora, but I'd like to also be able to use all the other neat apps that are compatible. But when I plug in my iPhone 4, and select the 'App' button I get a blank screen.
Upon doing a bit of research, I came across this:
CD-IU50V - iPod®/iPhone® USB Interface Cable for AVIC, AVH, and MVH Models | Pioneer Electronics USA
which is, I think, what is "required" in order for it to work, which brings me to my next questions: Why is this different than any iPhone 4 30-pin cable? Why does it also have a 3.5mm audio jack? Will this cable make it work? and probably the most important question: should it actually already be working using the regular iPhone 4 30-pin cable and I'm just doing something wrong?
-----
So, all I really want to know is: How can I make my iPhone 4 work with the Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD and, if I'm using an iPhone 5 (or 6 when it comes out) do I need some special cable or will the regular iPhone 5 lightning cable work?
