question about phase adjustment

hey guys i just got done putting in my new viper 1200.1

it has a phase adjustment knob that goes from 0 to 180.

what is this adjustment for exactly?? i looked in the manual but they didnt explain

i have it set to 0 right now

also its only powering 1 sub right now if that matters

Its the same as reversing the + and - on you're terminals, in normal installs its left at 0.
