question about equlizers and crossovers

i wanna get a crossover and an equlizer should i get both or just one plus i heard that equilizers give you bad engine noise is this true? and if not and i do go about getting this how would i hook it all up? one more question at car audio competitions how are the dbs read on the inside of the car? with windows up?

You have been told some crap......

People use eq's all the time. Why do you think the best sounding vehicles in the world have em?

You can use x-overs in conjunction with an eq.

As far as hooking it up......power, ground, remote, rca's....done.
