Amp won't power on...trying to use a line out converter. Turning into a nightmare...

I'm trying to hook up my amp/subs to my factory bose radio in my 91 Legend. I've got an ssa dcon 10", alpine mrp-m350, knukonceptz 8-gauge wiring kit, and pac soem-t speaker to rca converter. I've tapped the rear speakers correctly and cannot get the amp to power on at all! I've tried different ground points. I'm connecting the blue wire from the pac loc converter to my amps remote connector b/c the pac says that is built in remote. The yellow wire which teh pac says to connect to a 12v constant source is connected to my bose amp power line from the headunit.

Do I need to run a seperate remote line or find a different 12v source? I'de just buy a whole new headunit, but my bose speakers run at 2ohm instead of normal headunits 4ohm. I can't seem to find a 4-pin speaker level harness anywhere locally and really don't want to wait on shipping even further.

Btw, I blew the fuse on the power line b/c I dropped the wire on the amp while it was grounded. I checked the fuses on the amp and they were fine...do you think I blew the amp? I replaced the 50amp fuse from knukonceptz with a 60amp fuse from radioshack

If you know for a fact that your amp had worked before you installed it (I don't know if you bought it used or new..) should still be fine even after the incidence. As far as not turning on I would just run a separate remote wire. Would be an easy fix you have here, assuming that remote is the problem...

yea i know for a fact the amp worked. I bought it used and got to see it functioning before I paid for it. How would I go about running a remote wire? I hear people say they have theirs connected to a switch to turn on/off. I wouldn't mind that...just don't wait to have the amp stay on while the cars not off, but gotta get her turned on the first place lol! This install has been rough...

Or if not a switch what would I connect it to?

"I'm connecting the blue wire from the pac loc converter to my amps remote connector b/c the pac says that is built in remote."
You connected blue wire (remote wire) as you said above, but did you connect the 12+ and ground on this adapter as well? That remote won't work unless those were hooked up as well...

Yea I have the ground connected to the chassis and the yellow 12v connector tapped into my bose amp power. Is there a way I can run my own remote seperately? If I do that do I still need to connect the pac to a 12v source or is that just for the built in remote wire?

You shouldn't need to worry about the 12+ and the ground wire on that adapter if you going to bypass it. You could run the remote off a 12+ switched accessory wire, but I usually would just run off the ignition wire from the fuse box if I were you. You would have to manually turn on a switch every time you got in your vehicle. Remotes a pretty simple wire to run...

Sorry I just read my last post and my following statement; "You would have to manually turn on a switch every time you got in your vehicle." was if you were to try and wire off of a constant 12+ source and is completely fine but would have to put a switch in so your amp won't be on constantly. If you wired to say the ignition fuse or anything which is turned on or usable only when car is on then you won't have to have a switch and any problems. I hope I'm not getting confusing, lol. It's really simple and would take not even 5 minutes to do or show in person...

Nope i got ya. My bose amp only comes on with the ignition so thats a plus! Ill try to wire up the sub tonight //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well got the sub wired up and its not doin anything. Bought it used off here so not 100% it works although they say it did. Any ideas? Im gonna mess around with that ground between the rcas real quick

To be honest I'm not a 100% familiar with that adapter your using, I can't stand using stock HU's but understandable in your case, so the adapter my need that 12+ and ground hooked up for the adapter to function properly. Sounds like either amp isn't getting signal or the sub has some issue... Try hooking up the 12+ and the ground on adapter and go from there...
