i just bought some mb quart qsc's and a zapco ref 350. i couldnt wait to hear them so hooked it all up inside my trunk for a quick listen. i just had the tweets and mids sitting free air on the floor in the trunk and the sound output was very weak. i plan to put them in the doors, this was just to test to make sure they worked. will the sound output improve a lot when i install them in the stock location in the doors? i mean really improve because compared to a friends jl xr's they were less than half as loud.

Since you figure that you were losing a ton of sound output from rear wave cancellation, you really can't base anything on your "test."

Well free airing a speaker and trying to make it sound good at the same time ='s not a good idea

Yes when you install them it will be a night and day difference!
