the cap stays on because it job is store and release power quickly to you amp, for cleaner faster response. leave it in, it stays on because the current has nowhere to go.

I agree with Jmanpc. and a cap does nothing but if you don't want to listen to us you will find out just like everyone else has. i used to not know sh*t on this forum but i have learned so much and still am now im helping my friend's with there system's and im in electronics in college and every now and then i get to do car audio stuff in my class and even my teacher say's a cap would do nothing i explained to him how some people say it does nothing. he also said that's right all that is is something draining your battery and i asked em if the big 3 was right and he said that sounds more sufficent. so if you want to go againist me my teacher who has over 35yrs experience in the electronics field and what he work's in also and all of the people here who know so much probably more then you . you go ahead and do that then when you come back and then you ask the people that tried to help you , you come back asking for help we'll just laugh at you. anyone agree with me?

Onto caps...

I had one back when I was first into car audio. I had a 1 farad cap in a lil toyota, and it stopped the headlights from dimming and made the bass hits harder.

So to all the peeps saying "it won't do anything"...you are mistaken.

If I simple cap install won't fix your power issues, i'd move on to the "big 3", then ultimately a big alt if the big 3 didn't correct your problems.
