Switch number 1 and 2 around. You need to put the glue on both pieces of wood before screwing them together. You can use your finger to spread the glue so that you fully cover where the wood will go together. The glue is what bonds the wood together so it has to be between the pieces. Use lots of glue and just enough screws to keep things from moving while the glue dries. If you have clamps use them too.

Alright sounds good. I am going to put it together today.

What is the purpose of using caulk/silcone? Ill do it but what is the point?

One quick thing, im not sure if it was mentioned or not.

PREDRILL: make sure you predrill holes for the wood screws, drill the size of the inner circular part of the screw.

I build my first box with help from these forums a few months ago, and i have to say i think i did a **** good job if you just follow what people on here say.

Another tip, assemble all but the back panel first, and use your silicon sealant from the open back panel to access the front joints. Then put on the back panel and silicon the back joints throught the sub hole. If you put it all together before using silicon it can be hard to get to the front joints through the sub hole and your hands will be *****ing at you when you are done.

Also for looks i suggest setting about a 1/4 inch inset on the side panels that way the four other pieces overlap the sides a little. I didnt do this on my first box, and the reason some do it is so that there is a lip to tuck the carpet under and staple, if you dont you may end up with some bunched up carpet on the side like i did. Its just cosmetic though, and it will decrease your dimensions a little.

Cool some good advice right there ^^ I plan on pre drilling the holes so that wont be a problem

And the back panel on last is a great idea, Thanks!

Im itchin to get out there and cut the final peice! Lol

Its snowing out but I am doing it today in the garage anways.

Ill get some pics and stuff up later today. How long do you think it will be before I can actually complete the box and use it? I am going to get it all glued together today (I guess i need to wait for it to dry before I cut the hole out or what? If so how long should I wait?

Then all I have to do is bolt the sub in and I am good to use it right? Ill carpet it later on

darkhunter139, you will save yourself so much time and effort not to mention money is you just let BJ Fisher build a box to spec for you.. his build quality is superb, and he will build a box to the specs of your speaker.

A ported enclosure that isn't properly designed and built has a good chance of sounding bad.

To late, already got the wood.

And I want to do it myself anyway. I enjoy working on this stuff and it will be cool to say I built the box

Here is my box so far what do you think? I am going to add the silicone and put the top on it tomorrow.
