Question about box geometry and ports...

Alright, so I am going to be going 3-way active VERY soon, and one of the integral parts of this will be making the enclosure for the Adire Extremis' mids in my doors. I need to make the door have an effective volume of 0.60ft^3, with a 2" flared port of 8.5". Now my two questions are:

(1) How important does the geometry of the box become?

(2) Does the location/angle of the port matter with respect to the woofer?

Kinda dumb questions, I know. Thanks for your help!
