why is there smoke?
I have always wondered how to read amp ratings

if there is a 4 channel amp and its rated at 100x1 at 4 ohms does that mean its putting out 100 watts to every single channel soo 400 watts in total

or if there is a 4 channel amp and its rated at 100x4 does that mean its putting out 100 watts 4 ways so 25 watts a channel?

100x1 = 100 watts total. The x1 indicates it only has 1 channel.

If it's 100x4 that is 400 watts total. It will tell you in the ratings how many watts per channel and usually how many total watts RMS.
